Memorial options

Option 1:

A traditional War Memorial proposed by Mr H. Groom which would be at a height of 5ft 6inches (1.65 metres) in Portland Stone and would also contain a brass plaque listing the names of Emsworth’s 194 War Dead.

Site:  St Peter’s Square

Option 2:

A series of 6-8 metal or stone waymarkers sited around Emsworth which would act as a trail uniting the north and south areas of the village and depict words and images from local residents.  These markers could celebrate the lives of those lost as well as taking a view into the future by containing words and images of peace and hope.  The trail would also include the church where the names of the 194 World War dead are inscribed.

Site:  Through Emsworth (circular walking route from quay to North Emsworth).  See map for site suggestions:  Quay, Square, nr underpass, crossing, possibly museum and then churchyard

Option 3:

A stone sculpture symbolising the past, present and future.  Providing a focal point for pause and reflection.

Site: Church garden or St Peter’s Square

Option 4:

Other options you have thought of as an appropriate Memorial for Emsworth.
